Turmeric Latte Recipe

Turmeric is gold in colour and gold in therapeutic use. It is a potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial as well as having liver and immune supportive properties. By its self, turmeric is not well absorbed in the gut, however combining it with black pepper improves absorption.

This milk is like a chai latte but with the added boost of turmeric.

Ingredients

(Makes 2 serves)

  • 500ml Coconut milk (in the carton, not the cooking variety)
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch cardamom
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1tsp raw honey

Method

  1. Add milk and spices to a saucepan. Heat and simmer just below the boil for 5 mins.
  2. Take off the heat, stir through honey and serve in your favourite mug.

Note: you can use what ever spices you like- don’t go out and buy any more, just use what you have!
